Boy critically injured in crash near I-496 in Lansing Township

LANSING TOWNSHIP, MI (WILX) -- A young boy was critically injured in a rollover crash near I-496 in Lansing Township early Monday morning.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a crash on the W. St. Joseph Street ramp to W. Main St. just after 2 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28.

An SUV lost control on West St. Joseph Street near the ramp connecting W. Main St. and W. Malcolm X St.

A six-year-old boy was critically injured in the crash. Five other people in the SUV were also hurt.

The ramp connecting St. Joseph St. and W. Malcolm X St. was back open by 6:45 a.m. Monday.

The cause of the crash is under investigation but alcohol and speed may have been a factor, police said.
