LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow received a special award in Lansing Saturday.
Conservation group Michigan Pheasants Forever honored her as their "Legislator of the Year." In her acceptance speech, the Democrat talked about the importance of wildlife conservation, and how the 2018 Farm Bill she championed in Congress aims to protect land and water for hunting and outdoor recreation.
"This is really 10 years of changing the way we do land and water conservation," Sen. Stabenow said, "doing it much more aggressively in terms of supporting our land our hunting habitat, fishing habitat and what we're doing to protect the Great Lakes.
"This is a very important part of what we're doing to protect our outdoor heritage in Michigan."
Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management.
