LANSING, MI (WILX) - Lansing's City Clerk announced on Tuesday "Phase Two" for provisioning center applications in the area.
This would be for the second 30-day window for those wanting to open "pot shops" to submit applications.
The window will open on May 28 and will close on Thursday, June 27, 2019.
Swope says that only five licenses are available to be issued during this phase.
He added that they are expecting a lot of applications and recently worked with the city's IT Department to create an online application.
“We learned a lot from our first round of applications,” said Swope. “We’re using that information, along with input from applicants, to streamline the application, review, and appeals processes.”
Along with a new and better online system, Swope released an updated scoring criteria for Phase Two back in February.
You can read that here, and he suggests that anyone planning on submitting an application should review the scoring criteria along with the updated application checklist.
“Within the limits of the ordinance, I will award more points for being located further away from other provisioning centers,” stated Swope. “This will help ensure access to medication for those Lansing residents who have transportation issues.”
As of now, 19 Medical Marijuana Provisioning Centers have been given conditionally approval by the City of Lansing, with two of those 19 securing licenses.
