Panel will look at Trump's transgender military ban

WASHINGTON D.C. (WILX) - The Secretary of Defense James Mattis announced Tuesday that a panel will look at the best way to implement President Trump's transgender military policies.

This means that right now transgender individuals who are currently serving in the military will be able to keep serving.

Just last week Trump asked the military to remove a policy from the Obama administration allowing the military to recruit transgender individuals.

In July, the President said on twitter that transgender individuals would not be able to serve in the military.

Members of the Defense Department and the Department of Homeland Security will be a part of this panel.

The panel will look at things like lethality and unit cohesion for transgender members of the military.
