Scammer calls and pretends to be a member of the Michigan State Police

The Clinton County Sheriff's office is warning residents about another phone scam.

The scammer calls your number and says he is from the Michigan State Police and asks for donations to be made in his name.

The caller asks for a credit card number and $20.

The resident realized it was a scam and hung up, and alerted the police.

"Please alert your family and friends that this type of scam is occurring and be sure that they do not give out any credit card or any other information over the phone."
