Area road weight restrictions in effect

Seasonal weight restrictions are in effect in Lansing, beginning on Monday.

Lansing Public Service Department announced the weight restrictions Monday and said they will be in effect until further notice.

It happens every year to help cut back on road damage caused by winter and heavy trucks.

New road weight restrictions also took effect Friday in East Lansing.

The rule reduces maximum weight for trucks and heavy vehicles by 25% to 35%.

Ingham County's weight restrictions also take effect Friday.

Clinton, Eaton, and Jackson County's restrictions take effect Monday.

All state trunk line highways, run by MDOT, take effect Monday as well.
