JACKSON COUNTY, MI (WILX) -- After more than three years, a man will now serve four to 15 years for involuntary manslaughter.
Riley Spitler was 16 when he was charged with shooting and killing his 20-year-old brother as a teen on Dec. 6, 2014, Mlive reports.
Spitler was first convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison, according to Mlive. However, a little over a year ago, the court of appeals threw out his sentence, but the state's supreme court rejected the appeal.
The appeals court then instructed the original Jackson County trial judge to resentence Spitler on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, which has led to his four to 15 year-sentence.
