Retail sales grow, slowly

Amid the trade war, U.S retail sales rose in August, but at a slower pace.
Auto sales jumped in August, and online sales continue to be strong.
The Commerce Department says retail sales increased by .4% last month, but that's down from .8% in July.
Online sales continued to soar, rising 1.6%, roughly the same amount as in July, when Amazon held its Prime Day.
