The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Michigan State University will name Bill Beekman as permanent athletic director.
Beekman has served as the interim athletic director since February when Mark Hollis retired. Hollis stepped down on January 24, hours before ESPN published a report accusing Michigan State's athletic department of attempting to cover up sexual assaults.
Beekman also served as acting president when Lou Ann K. Simon resigned until Engler was appointed.
Earlier this year Engler said that MSU would conduct a nationwide search for its next athletic director and that no internal candidates would be considered.
News 10 reached out to MSU for confirmation, but they have not yet responded.
