LANSING, MI (WILX) - The leaders of the group, Voters Not Politicians, held a media round table on Friday in Lansing.
They are the group behind the implementation of redistricting in Michigan.
They say that in 2018, at the November election, that their reform amendment was supported by 61% of Michigan voters.
That was Proposal 2, which ended gerrymandering by creating an Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission.
On Friday, they met to provide updates on the implementation of the redistricting reform amendment.
A commission for redistricting is in the works and needs applicants.
A person can serve on the commission is they are a registered voter in Michigan.
You can't serve if you have, in the past 6 years, been a candidate or elected official of partisan office, consultant or employee of a partisan politician or PAC, employee of the legislature or political appointee, registered lobbyist agent or employee of one, a leader of a political party, or an immediate family member of any of the above.
