UPDATE - Police identify body found inside burned car

Police in Hillsdale County have identified the body found inside a burning car as 30 year old Tyler Craig Herendeen of Jonesville.

The fire happened in the intersection of Voorheis Road and Waldron Road in Somerset Township on January 11th.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. Police are waiting toxicology and autopsy reports.

State police in Jackson are awaiting autopsy results after a body was found in a burned vehicle this week.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson Post were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle fire on Voorheis Road near Waldron Road in Hillsdale County's Somerset Township on Wednesday evening.

Upon investigation, an unidentified body was located inside of the vehicle. The investigation is still ongoing pending identification of the body, notification of family, and autopsy results.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Somerset Township Fire Department.
