LANSING, MI (WILX) -- The driver of a fatal accident that happened on July 11 has been identified as Davin Villarreal of Lansing.
The Lansing Police Department is investigating the crash that killed 37-year-old Villarreal early Thursday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Oakland Avenue and Cleo Street for a single-vehicle accident at approximately 3:13 a.m.
Lansing police told News 10 that the preliminary investigation suggested the driver of the car left the road, went airborne, and crashed into a tree.
The vehicle broke off into several pieces before coming to a rest in a driveway off Oakland Avenue.
A truck parked in a driveway was also damaged in the crash.
Villarreal was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash forced emergency crews to block off the area of Oakland Avenue and Cleo Street with barriers while investigators worked on the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation but police are saying that speed was a factor.
