BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) -- A child has found a thumbtack in Halloween candy handed out in Jackson County, police said.

The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety posted on Facebook Thursday morning about a report of a child finding a thumbtack in a Tootsie Roll.

The Halloween candy was handed out in the Birdland subdivision off Lansing Avenue in Blackman Township.

A woman claiming to be the child's mother posted the picture of the candy on social media.

The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety recommends anyone who went trick-or-treating in that area to throw the candy away.
