People from all over are helping in the Carolinas

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- People across the U.S. have been mobilizing crews with a range of skills, to help where they can, including people in Michigan.

"Because of our standardization we are able to take a helicopter from Astoria put a crew from Traverse City and it send it down to North Carolina and fly missions and function just like it would from its home station," said Eric Nolan, Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City.

Several other organizations from around the state are already on their way or have arrived in the Carolinas.

That includes paramedics and EMTs, as well as utility workers from Consumers Energy, and disaster workers from the Red Cross.
