New technology improves patient communication at Sparrow

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- Sparrow Hospital is highlighting new technology that makes it easier for patients with special needs to communicate with doctors.

Every new patient that comes in will fill out a digital questionnaire asking if they need special accommodations.

That information then goes immediately into the person's health care records.

It sounds simple but doctors say it makes a big difference when it comes to patient care.

"This allows us to say to all patients families, if you see something that you think you will need that is different than what you might experience or you just want to know this is a preference, you have the opportunity to say that," said Dr. Michael Zaroukian, a Sparrow physician.

The new survey just launched within the last month.
