A new study links anxiety and depression to cardiovascular disease in older adults.

Researchers in Scotland tracked more than 200,000 people over the age of 45.

They found women with high levels of mental distress had a 44% increased risk of stroke. Men with severe anxiety or depression were 30% more likely to have a heart attack.
