National Pancake Day benefits sick kids

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- If you've been craving pancakes, Tuesday is the day to cave in.

Free pancakes are being served up at IHOP in East Lansing for National Pancake Day.

This is the 13th year in a row it has offered free hot cakes to help raise money for local sick kids.

IHOP is looking to raise $5 million dollars across the country for Children's Miracle Network hospitals, including Sparrow Hospital.

Customers are asked to leave a donation in exchange for the free hot cakes. The money raised will go towards life saving treatments and equipment. Its the same treatment that was there for this year's Miracle Child, Luci Cichocki.

"There's so much more than just the medicine that goes into helping these kids get better. We really appreciate the entire experience as unfortunate as it was. You know it just means a lot to us that so many people care so much about a child that maybe they don't know that well," Luci's father, Cameron Cichocki said.

Since 2006, the event has raised nearly 30 million dollars.

Visit the location at 2771 East Grand River Avenue between 7AM and 7PM Tuesday to donate.
