Officers with the NYPD rescued a man who threatened to jump from the Manhattan Bridge Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a call of an emotionally disturbed man on the bridge just before 5am.

When they arrived, officers encountered a 22-year old male on the outermost ledge, outside of the safety fence.

The emergency service unit also responded and talked to the man for half an hour while other officers cut a hole in the fence.

Responders were eventually able to climb the barrier and flank the man, pulling him through the fence to safety.

The man was uninjured and taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
