Mountain Dew ready to kiss and make up with the U.P.
Mountain Dew is about to make up after a faux pas to the Upper Peninsula and the entire state of Michigan.
In July they kicked off a promotion about the "Dew-nited States."
However, Mountain Dew confused Michigan's Upper Peninsula as a part of Wisconsin, and Yoopers were not happy about it.
The unofficial Twitter account of the U.P. gave Mountain Dew an ultimatum "fix the mistake or send a free case to all my residents--sincerely, America's peninsula."
In a tweet, the brand says it's sorry for the mix-up and that it's got something up its sleeve to make things right.
Mountain Dew sent NEWS 10 a statement saying, "We promised to make it up to residents – and true to our word, we’re excited to announce that we’re now doing just that by launching a custom “Upper Peninsula” label."
The label will be premiered at some special events over the weekend.
• On Sunday, August 10th – at the Upper Peninsula Supply Co. at 2 p.m. residents will have the first chance to see the newest bottles.
• From Monday, August 11th – Wednesday, August 13th they are saying they will have a special surprise at the Upper Peninsula State Fair that will include setting up a large space for people to “dunk” Mountain Dew employees, families and friends in a dunk tank. There will also be thousands of free bottles and swag passed out to attendees.
