CNN (CNN) -- Nearly two-thirds of sunscreens sold in stores are either unsafe or wouldn't pass FDA protection standards, according to The Environmental Working Group, an consumer activist organization.
The consumer activist group looked at 1,300 sunscreens currently on the market and found that one reason sunscreens are unsafe is because they contain a chemical called oxybenzone, which is linked to hormone changes in men and shorter pregnancies for women.
The group said another reason sunscreens can be unsafe is because they don't meet FDA standards for UVA protection.
