Mid-Michigan veteran attends Pearl Harbor memorial service

A soldier from Jackson, who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor,, was part of Thursday's 76th anniversary memorial service in Hawaii.

Herbert Elfring was a 19-year-old serving in the Army's 251st Coast Artillery, just down the road from the Pearl Harbor naval base.

He's 95 now, but still remembers hearing the bombs going off.

More than 23-hundred people died in the Japanese sneak attack that drew the United States into World War Two.
