One Michigan school district is banning students from using their cellphones.

The Forest Hills School District, just east of Grand Rapids, will no longer allow students to use their cellphones.

The assistant superintendent said a parent advisory committee approved the plan as a way to cut down on anxiety caused by social media posts.

Under the plan, students can bring their phones to school, but they must stay in their locker during school hours.

The district said students who need to call a parent can use a school phone.
