LANSING, Mich. (WILX)-- A bill introduced in the State House would allow Mega Millions and Powerball lottery winners to remain anonymous in Michigan.
House Bill 6489, introduced by Rep. Curt VanderWall on November 8th, would allow winners of multi-state lottery games to keep their identities concealed.
In Michigan, winners of multi-state games like Powerball and Mega Millions must come forward publicly.
Only six states- Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, Kansas, South Carolina and North Dakota- grant anonymity to lottery winners for all games.
HB 6489 was referred to the committee on regulatory reform.
