LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The University of Michigan has hired a new assistant women's gymnastics coach, but she comes with some controversy.
Michigan hired Rhonda Faehn, according to the university's student newspaper.
Faehn was a senior vice president at USA Gymnastics before leaving last May amid fallout from the Larry Nassar scandal. Though Faehn notified USA Gymnastics about potential abuse -- which led to the investigation and removal of Nassar -- USAG did not notify Michigan State University, where Nassar worked.
Faehn replaces Scott Vetere, who resigned in October after being arrested on charges of having sex in public with an 18-year-old female athlete. A week later, he was banned from the university.
