LANSING, MI (WILX) -- On the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, a local remembrance was held by the Michigan House of Representatives.

The service not only honored those who died on 9/11, it also honored local police, fire and emergency workers.

Each state representative got to bring two first responders with them to the event to be recognized for the sacrifices they make everyday.

Names of local people who have died overseas in wars that began because of the 9/11 terror attacks were also read at the event.

"I applaud the state legislator for recognizing all that we do and remembering those who lost their lives, not only at nine eleven but in the line of duty over the past several years since we've been doing this job. It's a very nice event that they put on for us here today," Sheriff Scott Wrigglesworth, of Ingham County said.

Around 200 people attended the event at the Capitol.
