Waste Management says an employee discovered a body Friday while tipping a trash load at a facility in Williamstown Township. Meridian Township Police tell News 10 the deceased is 36 year old Matthew Haack of Lansing.

A company spokesperson told News 10 the Ingham County Sheriff's Department was notified immediately and is investigating the situation with full cooperation from its staff.

"We would like to extend our gratitude to the Waste Management team members and to the first responders who assisted at the scene," said Tanisha Sanders, a company spokesperson.

The facility where the body was found is located at 2450 East Grand River Ave., just outside Williamston. At about 2:45 p.m. Friday, Sanders said the facility was cleared to resume normal operations.

A Northeast Ingham Emergency Service Authority ladder truck was seen parked at the facility around 2 p.m. Friday. A NIESA official declined comment.
