BLOOMINGTON, Min (WILX) - According to sources, the man accused of throwing a 5-year old boy off a balcony at the Mall of America on Friday could be charged Monday.

Police say Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, 24, did not know the child or his family.

He is currently in jail on suspicion of attempted homicide.

According to court records, Aranda has a history of misdemeanor convictions, including two previous incidents at the Mall of America back in 2015

Meanwhile, the 5-year-old boy, who fell nearly 40-feet, remains in the hospital.

Bloomington Police Chief Jeffrey Potts said Sunday that the boy is "still alive and receiving care," and that the family wants privacy.

Children's Hospital Minneapolis had no information to release.

He is being treated for critical injuries.

A GoFundMe campaign was started up to help the boy's family pay for the medical bills.
