UPDATE: MSU Homecoming parade is canceled

EAST LANSING, MI (WILX) - Homecoming season is here and MSU will celebrate this weekend.

There was a parade scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday that was canceled just after 2 p.m. on Friday.

MSU has said that the parade will not be rescheduled.

The Grand Marshal of the parade was supposed to be Susan Packard, who is the former HGTV chief operating officer, also an author and MSU alumna.

"Packard’s triumphs in media, written works and continued mentorship truly exemplifies what it means to inspire success," according to a release from MSU.

The theme for this year's homecoming is "Spartans Inspire Success."

Community members can find additional MSU Homecoming information at alumni.msu.edu/traditions/homecoming/parade.

The Spartans take on the Indiana Hoosiers at Spartan Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Parking lots will open at 9 a.m., and take note that Munn field is not available for parking or tailgating.

If you want to take part in the Meijer Fan Fest - that is happening on Munn Field.

Gates open at 2 p.m.

Cherry Lane is available for public parking for $30.
To get to Cherry Lane, you can enter at Lot 70 off of Birch Road.

Noisemakers, banners, or signs
Umbrellas
Strollers
Food or drink
Firearms or other weapons
