UPDATE: Autopsy to be done on 6-day-old girl found dead

An autopsy is being done to figure out how the missing Lansing woman's week-old baby died.

The newborn was found in the woman's car, but Ashley Shade, 35, is still missing.


The Lansing Police Department found the missing 6-day-old infant dead inside a vehicle owned by Ashley R. Shade, who still is missing.

Shade's vehicle was found on the 100 block of East Kilborn Street in Lansing. No one else was in the vehicle.

The Lansing Police Department and Shade's family ask that anyone with information on her whereabouts to please call 911 or contact the Lansing Police Department (517) 483-4600, Lansing Police Detective Thielen (517) 483-6858, or send a private message to the Lansing Police Department Facebook page.

An Endangered Missing Advisory has been issued for Ashley R. Shade, 35, who has a 6-day old daughter with her.

Shade is described as being 5-feet, 8-inches tall, weighing 142 pounds, with light brown or sandy-blonde curly hair cut just below her ears; blue eyes wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.

She was last seen in the area of South Washington and Holmes in Lansing.

She drives a 2002 silver Toyota Camry with a temporary plate on it.

Anyone with information on the wherabouts of the woman or the infant are asked to call 911 or the Lansing Police Department at (517) 483-4600.
