Work on a local road project that's been halted for most of the month of September will start back up on Monday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says that's when work will resume on the I-94 project in Jackson County.

The news comes after a

between Michigan contractors association and a union ended Thursday after the two sides reached a short-term agreement.

Phase one of the I-94 project includes resurfacing 7.5 miles of road, reconstructing 1.4 miles of road, two bridges and a pair of roundabouts.

Future phases for 2021 and beyond include reconstruction of bridges at M-60, Elm Avenue and Lansing Avenue.

The over $100 million dollar improvements will be made on a nine-mile stretch of I-94 from M-60 to Sargent Road.
