LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan's new lieutenant governor, Garlin Gilchrist II, visited Everett High School and Lansing Community College Tuesday.

He talked with students and teachers about the Michigan Reconnect Program.

It's one of the programs Governor Gretchen Whitmer brought up during her State of the State address.

She says it will help people in Michigan revamp their skills to give them more employment opportunities.

Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist also visited several small businesses in the Lansing area.

He'll be in Ann Arbor Thursday.
