SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) -- A couple of Michigan lawmakers are expressing their appreciation to first responders and the people in Shiawassee County after the tornadoes on Thursday.

State Rep. Ben Frederick, of Owosso, and Sen. Tom Barrett, of Charlotte, toured the storm damage Friday, meeting with those affected.

"It was impressive to see so many neighbors helping neighbors in the aftermath," Barrett said.

The politicians are working with the governor's office to help the community gain access to state emergency assistance.
