LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Lansing Fire Department held their annual memorial service on Saturday in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Firefighters honored in Lansing
The ceremony gave community members a chance to honor eight fallen firefighters including retired Chief of Dispatch - Carl Wagner - who died last July.
Saturday also served as a way to thank all firefighters that put their lives in danger everyday.
"They are not just fighting 12 or 15 fires a week, they do hundreds up into the thousands of ambulance runs and emergencies that our firefighters respond to," said Lansing Mayor Andy Schor. "They're very active, and it's a very stressful job so we need to take time to thank them for it. "
The city also had a Memorial Day Ceremony at Mount Hope where a wreath was laid in remembrance.
