JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) -- UPDATE:
Interstate 94 in Jackson County is back open.
Pooling water on the freeway caused four crashes on eastbound Interstate-94 Monday afternoon.
The first two crashes happened in the eastbound passing lane when flooding caused vehicles to hydroplane out of control, according to the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety.
One crash involved two cars and the other involved seven.
Shortly after that, two more two-vehicle crashes happened due to traffic backups, for a total of four crashes involving 13 vehicles, according to police.
Public safety officers said one individual was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Eastbound Interstate-94 at Airport Road, mile marker 138, is down to one lane, according to MDOT.
MDOT is cleaning out plugged drains in the area and says the freeway should re-open soon.
