MUSKEGON, Mich. (WILX) -- By the end of the day Wednesday, the murder trial of a West Michigan man could be in the hands of a jury.

Jeffrey Willis is charged with the kidnapping and murder of Jessica Heeringa.

She disappeared from the Norton Shores gas station where she worked in April 2013.

Willis' trial began last week in Muskegon County. Testimony will pick back up Wednesday morning before closing arguments later on in the afternoon.

Willis has already been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the June 2014 murder of Rebekah Bletsch.

Willis was arrested in 2016 when a teenager said he tried to kidnap her. He faces a separate trial in the attempting kidnapping case. His arrest jump-started investigations of the 2014 Bletsch homicide and the 2013 disappearance of Heeringa.
