MT. CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) - A judge has granted a temporary restraining order forbidding Macomb County Clerk Karen Spranger from "harassing" or retaliating against employees engaged in union activities.
The Detroit Free Press reports that Circuit Judge Matthew Switalski issued the order after a brief hearing Friday.
Local 411 of the Michigan Council of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees says working conditions are intolerably hostile.
Spranger's lawyer says the office's 85 union employees are resistant to change.
The decision is just the latest among numerous lawsuits contesting Spranger's first year as county clerk.
She has faced off in court against nearly every level of Macomb County government.
The county has also sued Spranger.
It alleges she misrepresented her home address when filing to run for office.
That could get her ousted.
