LANSING, MI (WILX) -- The outlook on job projections was released Thursday to a crowd of lawmakers at the Michigan Occupational Outlook Conference.
Based on the projections, the annual career outlook provides information on careers that will be in high demand through 2026 in Michigan.
The data shows jobs in the health care field like registered nurses and home health care aids are among the positions that will need to be filled.
"And what they're doing with that information is using it to start a conversation, right. Some of the stuff we put out today is what it's meant to do, start that conversation about, you know, what are these various career pathways we have for individuals here in our state," Scott Powell, director of research for the Department of Technology Management and Budget Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives, said.
This was the first year for the projections to be done with a new system.
The new methodology better reflects the evolution of the workforce in the last 20 years.
