JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) -- The New Year's celebration in downtown Jackson is happening now.
The annual Eve on the Ave. started at 10 p.m. Monday.
Changes may be underway here in downtown jackson for the 18th annual eve on the ave new year's eve celebration.
News 10's Cryss Walker spoke with officials from the Jackson Downtown Development Authority and they told her the celebration might be called off if the rain doesn't let up, but some are still hoping for a good turn out.
"As of right now, I think nothing is going to change but hopefully the rain will let up. There's still a lot to do downtown, even if it is some cold and rain. We've got some great restaurants downtown. We've got our hot dogs here at the Junkyard Dog. We've got the dirty burger, chicken and pizza, so you can still load the family up, come downtown, have dinner and see what the night can offer," said Mike Carrigan, Junkyard Dog manager.
And the Jackson DDA is planning a New York-style ball drop, fireworks and a live DJ, if the weather cooperates.
