Investigators believe someone deliberately set that fire.
Now the property owner is telling News 10's Cryss Walker he wants whoever did it to take responsibility for the crime.
“Turn yourself in if you did this,” said Robert Bruton.
The smell of smoke still lingers in this building weeks after a fire swept through the halls.
Earlier this month this building on the 600 block of Steward Avenue went up in flames.
At the time the cause of the fire was unknown but police are following new leads.
“It hurts that somebody would put not only themselves and whoever they were maybe setting the fire for or against or whatever happened,” Bruton said.“It could of killed them.”
The property owner says tenants won't be able to return for at least six months and the repair costs are climbing in the six-figure range.
“I'm told initial numbers are $250-to-$350,000 so it's gonna take a lot,” Bruton said.
“I look forward to starting that process so the sooner I start the sooner I can get done for the folks that have been displaced that are waiting for a home.”
No one was injured in the apartment fire.
Police do not have any suspects in custody.
