JACKSON, MI (WILX) -- A man who ran from the Jackson County Courthouse in chains earlier this year has been sentenced.
Court records show 25-year-old Brandon Watley-Glaspies was sentenced by Jackson Circuit Judge Thomas Wilson to 16 to 24 months in prison on charges of assaulting a public officer and escaping custody.
Watley-Glaspie ran from District Judge Joseph Filip's courtroom while wearing handcuffs after his arraignment and sentencing in January.
He managed to run out of the courtroom, get past security guards, and get outside before being arrested a couple of blocks away.
He was arraigned on a charge of larceny of a motor vehicle and retaining an item without consent before he ran from court.
On Thursday, Watley-Glaspie was sentenced to 16 to 60 months in prison for larceny of a motor vehicle and 16 to 40 months in prison for retaining an item without consent.
