INGHAM COUNTY, MI (WILX) - The Ingham County Animal Shelter held a grand opening of its new facility on Friday, June 14.

The event also included the start of the shelter's Adopt-A-Fest program.

It allows individuals to adopt a pet at a discounted rate.

The annual Adopt-A-Fest began after the shelter's grand opening ceremony event.

That ceremony showcased the shelter's new facilities.

The shelter moved into their new building earlier in June.

It was made possible by a 2016 millage passed by voters.

Workers say the new facility is safer and has more room to house more animals.

Adopt-A-Fest runs until 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 15.
