Local biology teacher wins a national innovator award. News 10's Lora Painter heads to Holt High School, into the classroom of Lisa Weise, to find out what makes her teaching style so effective, and discovers where her passion for teaching comes from.

Michael Willard, Holt HS principal, said, "She is innovating, always doing things new. She really is hands on from day one. Builds awesome, wonderful relationships with kids. Kids love her."

David Hornak, Holt superintendent, said, "She makes a difference daily, like the rest of our faculty do, and we're just happy she's a part of our team."

The Henry Ford's Innovation Nation Teacher Innovator Award recognizes the educators who are using the classroom to inspire innovation, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking among their students. Winners were selected by a team of judges. Judges selected the winners based on their original and creative approach to teaching, their demonstrated resourcefulness and the positive impact they made.
