High temps could lead to high energy bill

LANSING, MI (WILX) -- These high temperatures could lead to a high energy bill next month.

Consumers energy says changing the filter on your air conditioner could help it run more efficiently.

You can also try closing your curtains, running fans, and only using appliances like the oven or dryer -- in the morning.

To save energy -- consumers suggests setting your thermostat to 78 degrees.

"When you're going to be away for five hours or more, try setting it at 83, 85 and then program it if you know when you're going to be home about a half an hour before you get home. Your home will be cool and you'll have saved energy that whole time," Terry Dedoes, of Consumer's Energy, said.
