Gymnasts' attorney speaks out on move to de-certify USA Gymnastics
An attorney representing survivors of Larry Nassar reacted Monday night to the U.S. Olympic Committee's move to de-certify USA Gymnastics.
"This is a direct result of all the survivors. These women and girls wanted this to happen, not for money and retribution. They advocated for de-certification in order to protect children that they will never meet from the us-ag culture that coddled child molesters," attorney John Manly said in a statement.
The USOC has started the process of revoking the status of USAG as the top governing body for the sport.
The Olympic Committee CEO says USAG has struggled to change its culture and rebuild its leadership in the wake of the Nassar sex abuse scandal.
