Girls Learn Science & Engineering Over the Summer

LANSING - Building robots, designing video games and create apps are just a few of the fun activities at ITEC's 20-20 girls summer camps in Lansing.
The goal is to get elementary-school age girls interested in science and technology.
Organizers say the best way to do that is to make the camp just for females. "They're much more apt to stand up and be involved rather than when there's one or two girls in a class full of guys then [they] tend to be really reserved," said Joe Hertler, program coordinator. "It's great to see their own excitement in these classes and their willingness to participate."
The day camp is being held at the Foster Community Center.
