LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A four car accident in Livingston County shut down part of US-23 south on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. just north of Spencer Road in Brighton Township.
Police have discovered that a tractor trailer driven by 62-year-old from Harrison, failed to stop causing him to rear-end a Chevy Impala driven by a 34-year-old Charlevoix resident. The tractor trailer then hit a 2003 Ford Taurus that was was driven by an 18-year-old from Petoskey. The Taurus was pushed into a Ford Escape that was being driven by a 72-year-old from Greenbush.
The Sheriff's office says that alcohol and drugs to not seem to be a factor. Also, everyone was wearing seat belts.
The driver of the tractor trailer was issued a ticket at the scene for failure to stop within an assured clear distance.
There were no major injuries were to report.
Traffic was disrupted as lane closures occurred for about one hour.
