LANSING, MI (WILX) Everett High School was closed on Tuesday after the Lansing School District said a verbal threat was made by an Everett student.
Robert Merritt, an LPD spokesman, said in an email Tuesday afternoon police had identified the person who made the alleged threat and had interviewed him.
A juvenile delinquency case in connection with the threat was submitted by LPD, but the prosecution denied to move forward with it.
The fight that occurred on Monday between the six students could still be prosecuted as a juvenile assault.
Everett opened Wednesday for classes and after-school events.
School events such as the Everett band concert and girls basketball games for Tuesday evening were canceled.
Everett's basketball game against Sexton scheduled for Tuesday night was held at the Don Johnson Fieldhouse.
The LSD Legacy boys swim continued as scheduled at the Hill Center in Lansing.
School district officials confirmed Monday six Everett students were suspended for fighting, and other code of conduct violations.
One of the students involved in the fight made a verbal threat that may be related to Tuesday's closure.
As a precaution, the school district restricted access Tuesday to Eastern and Sexton high schools while classes remained open for students.
