Tax season may be over, but con artists are still trying to steal your money.
The East Lansing Police Department received a report of a tax scam. A resident got a letter, claiming it was from "the City of East Lansing Tax Department." The letter states the resident had an outstanding tax bill, and if left unpaid, they would be arrested. It then provided a phone number to make the payment.
Don't fall for it, says the ELPD. If you receive a letter like this, report it to authorities.
