Drinking water in public schools could be contaminated with lead

Drinking water at your child's public school may be contaminated with lead.

That's according to a new study by Harvard.

They found half of students live in states without lead testing programs, and the researchers were only able to test n 12 states.

In their tests they found 44% of schools had at least one sample with unacceptable levels.

The C.D.C. says no level of lead is safe for drinking water.

Last year testing was done in Detroit Public Schools and one school had levels more than 54 times the amount of Federal Guidelines.

That district has fixed it's system and is now safe.
