There's still a national shortage of Popeyes chicken sandwiches across the country.

The manager of a Popeyes in Delta Township says his business hasn't had any for over a week.

Eric Bristow talked with NEWS 10 on Friday, he's the General Manager of the restaurant on Saginaw Highway in Lansing.

He said not to expect any more sandwiches until November, however, at that time, they will be a regular item on the menu.

"It was pretty crazy," Bristow said about the chaos behind the launch of the sandwich.

"They came out on August 18 or 19 and the first day we sold 40 sandwiches, doubled the 2nd day, and on the third day it went from 80 sandwiches to 200, then 500, then close to 1000 every day afterwards."

He told us that this went on for almost 3 weeks with people lined out the door, the place packed full, and cars wrapped around the building.

He said that when Popeyes did a soft launch with these sandwiches that they sold 300-500 of them a day, so no one was ready to take on 1000 a day.

"We would run out every 2-3 days," he said.

Bristow has some good news for customers eager to purchase the popular sandwich. He anticipates supply will eventually outweigh demand.

The Popeyes sandwich features the chain’s New Orleans-style fried chicken on a brioche bun paired with pickles. Two options were available: original and spicy.
